Gunshots as CS Wamalwa is forced out of meeting

Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa was on Tuesday forced to abandon a meeting at Mbale Municipal Ground in Vihiga County after crowd trouble.

Angry residents began heckling a few minutes after Mr. Wamalwa arrived and took his seat at the dias ready to grace the annual Bunyore Cultural Festival.

Chanting that they would not entertain Jubilee supporters in the area, the locals persisted with the heckling prompting National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi, who was addressing the gathering, to halt his speech.

After a brief chat, Mudavadi escorted the Wamalwa to his car amid tight security from officers who had been deployed at the venue.

Police were forced to fire in the air to disperse the rowdy locals who were threatening to pelt the Cabinet Secretary’s car with stones.
