Half my executive will not work with me after 2017 – Rasanga
Siaya County Governor Cornel Rasanga has vowed that he will not have half of his executive in office should he get reelected in 2017 for a second term.
Rasanga argued that most of his executive members have not performed well in their respective dockets, claiming that their performance is painting a bad picture of his leadership.
The governor warned his cabinet that they would have to work hard to prove themselves so as to get a second chance to serve the residents.
Rasanga was speaking at the Agricultural Training Center (ATC) in Siaya Town during the performance evaluation and signing of performance contracts for the financial year 2016/2017.
Rasanga noted that the electorate would not judge his executive’s poor performance, adding that his leadership would be blamed for every shoddy project.
Some of the worst performing dockets were Education, Youth and Social Services, Tourism, ICT and Agriculture, Livestock and fisheries.
Roads and public works was awarded the best performing department for their flagship projects, finance and stewardship and service delivery, while the Trade docket emerged the best in human resource management.
Siaya County Assembly Speaker George Okode noted that monitoring performance should not just be about signing contracts but should directly benefit the residents.
The speaker argued that the residents should be able to see the developments that the Executive has brought.
