Harambee Sacco manager charged with Ksh.13.6M theft

A senior manager at Harambee Sacco has been charged with stealing property worth over Ksh.13.6 million from the firm.

The court was told that Christopher Seje Bolo, who works at the Credit Control Department, stole the assists between December 1 last year and February 7, this year.

Harambee Sacco is the second largest credit and savings co-operative society in Kenya.

Bolo however denied the charge before  Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on a cash bail of Sh300,000 or bond of Ksh.1million with a surety of the same amount.

The Prosecution through Lawyer Pamellah  Avedi said the case will be consolidated with another where a former head of Finance at the Sacco Jacob Barasa, is charged with stealing  the same amount.

Ms. Avedi noted that the Sacco, which has a membership of over 100,000 people from the Civil Service, is the complainant through its acting chief executive officer Mr Renson Mwandoe.

The matter will be heard in two weeks time for further directions.
