Health CS Sicily Kariuki’s impeachment motion withdrawn

The motion seeking to have Health Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki removed from office has been withdrawn.

This comes a day after 170 lawmakers signed the motion by Mandera North MP Bashir Abdullahi on grounds of gross misconduct and abuse of office.

MPs who tabled the motion in the National Assembly on Tuesday have instead given the Jubilee leadership more time to resolve the matter.

Earlier, a section of leaders drawn from Mandera County had come out to defend the embattled Health CS.

According to them, the threat by lawmakers to impeach instead of explore other resolutions set in the law would have a negative impact on service delivery.

“The MP’s should have allowed the CS to implement the recommendations of the National Assembly Health Committee including the dissolution of the 11 member board of the Kenyatta National Hospital,” says Abshiro
