Health Facilities Shut Down In Mandera
Mandera County Governor Ali Roba also said that more than 150 teachers serving in the county have also applied for transfer; a move which if granted will paralyze education sector in the county.
A leaders meeting in Mandera which brought together elected, nominated and provincial leaders, agreed on a peace campaign that will sensitize the locals against supporting Alshabaab.
Billow Kerrow, the county’s senator, called on the President to appeal to the workers union to halt the exodus and put measures to secure the area against Alshabaab attacks.
Mandera County has in the last one month fallen prey to the Alshabaab militants who attacked and killed 64 people in two separate incidents.
In the first incident which took place on November 22, the militants attacked a bus that was travelling to Nairobi and killed 28 people.
In the second incident ten days later, they attacked and killed 36 quarry workers.
