The heavy rains will continue into Wednesday this week. According to the Meteorological Department, they will range between moderate and heavy.

The areas to be affected are South and Central Rift, Nyanza, Southeast lowlands and Central regions as well as Nairobi and its environs.

Residents in these areas are advised to be on the lookout for potential floods, avoid driving through or walking in moving water.

People in landslide prone areas especially over the slopes of the Aberdare ranges, Mount Kenya, and other hilly areas have been put on high alert.

The weatherman says heavy rainfall is being experienced across the country and has led to overflow in most rivers with the ground already saturated with water.

As a result flooding and landslides may be triggered by any substantial amount of rainfall in low lying and hilly areas.
