Herbert Ojwang threatens to sue DP Ruto for defamation
Businessman Herbert Ojwang has threatened to sue Deputy President William Ruto for defamation.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Ojwang accused Ruto of making defamatory statements regarding his role in the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) saga.
He accused the deputy president of referring to him as a con man during his appearance on Citizen TV’s The Big Question, stating that he not only tarnished his name locally but internationally as well.
Speaking during the show on Tuesday, Deputy President William Ruto accused Ojwang’ of plotting to swindle the public in the MTRH upgrade deal, stating that he was shocked to see him in his office with Chinese contractors who were interested in upgrading the hospital.
Ojwang, however, insisted that Ruto knew of his involvement in the deal and only dismissed it after he (Ojwang) failed to issue a bribe, claims that the deputy president strongly refuted, promising to thwart any attempts to perpetrate corruption through suspect dealings.
Deputy President William Ruto further distanced himself from all corrupt dealings, insisting that his hands were clean.
He also confirmed that he owns shares in the controversial Weston Hotel.
