Heri Homes, Women in Business come to the aid of Kajiados physically challenged

Nairobi’s real estate company Heri Homes partnered with Women In Business to offer the much needed support to residents of Olkeri location in lower Matasia, Kajiado Country, with donations ranging from Unga to face masks.

With most families unable to access food and other basic commodities due to the effects brought forth by the COVID-19 pandemic, the corporate sector is joining hands to offer support and this time round, the needy and physically challenged persons were remembered.

Speaking during the donations drive, Heri Homes CEO Kimotho Kimani said they are giving back to the community since affordable housing is not only developing houses but also making sure families live together in harmony as the global pandemic has been projected to be here to stay.

“As you all know, majority of the families and especially the needy and those that are physically challenged are the hardest hit since they do not even have the financial muscle due to their economic status, with limited resources due to the cessation and curfew in different areas,” said Mr. Kimotho.

He added that they have partnered with Women in Business (WIB) on this noble cause that will see them tour different areas also empowering women who have ventured in business and those whose businesses have either collapsed or at the verge of collapsing by challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

WIB President and CEO Mary Muthoni was recently honored by the Head of State during the Madaraka Day celebrations for her efforts in contributing to the war against the novel disease.

Reiterating the need for other corporates to support Kenyans, Mr. Kimotho said the pandemic has brought a new realization that a house is one of the important assets because those with their homes have not been affected so much financially.

He claimed Heri Homes has developed over 800 houses across the country; 172 houses on Kikuyu road, 306 in New Kitisuru and others in the Machakos County. As a result they have also created over 1500 jobs for the last four years with most of the villagers being the beneficiaries.

Kiambu County has seen the number of COVID-19 positive cases rise steadily over the last one month with the increasing numbers spreading from one to village to another, a scenario likely to be complicated even as the government plans to open up the economy.

In his parting shot, He said, Heri Homes intends to launch another project of affordable housing with 1200 Units in Kiambu County very soon after the pandemic.
