Hiccup in Githongo Defamation Case as Judge Exits

Questions have however emerged over the reasons behind Justice Onyancha’s exit as the ruling read by High Court duty Judge Mbogholi Msangah did not shed light on that aspect.

Sources have however disclosed that the judge may have made the decision because he allegedly faced intimidation and threats.

In the ruling, Judge Msangha said that all the proceedings will be filed before a new judge is appointed to handle the case.

The case was at a stage where the plaintiff, Mr Chris Murungaru, together with other witnesses had submitted their account in the case.

Murungaru sued Mr Githongo for linking him to the controversial Anglo Leasing scandal and is pushing to be paid damages.

Last year, transcripts from a dossier that allegedly contains evidence linking the former minister to the Anglo-Leasing scandal were presented to the Court but were not accepted as evidence.

The case will be mentioned and determined on April 18, 2015.
