High Court To Determine Fate of Thuo Murder Suspects In March

The accused persons' lawyers have made an application to be released on bail on the grounds that they are still innocent until proved guilty

The lawyers argued that the release on bail they are seeking is a constitutional right.

However, the State Counsel opposed the application saying the suspects may interfere with the 53 prosecution witnesses who are set to testify in the case.

The prosecution said the accused persons may be in danger if released on bail.

Justice Roslyn Korir will deliver her ruling on the bail application on the 20th of March 2014.

The 6 suspects in the Thuo murder are Paul Wainaina, Christopher Lumbasio Andika, Andrew Karanja Wainaina, Samuel Kuria Ngugi, Esther Ndinda Mulinge and Ruth Vanessa Irungu.

Wainana is the proprietor of Club Porkies in Thika while Lumbasio was a friend of the late Thuo.

Ndinda is the waitress who allegedly served Thuo while Vanessa is the woman reveller who bought Thuo a beer before his death.

In his affidavit, the homicide detective said the six were arrested after investigations revealed that Thuo’s death, “was due to haemorrhagic gastroenteritis acute due to suspected chemical poisoning.”
