Hillary Clinton celebrates historic nomination with balloons, pyrotechnics

U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton celebrated her historic nomination with balloons, confetti and pyrotecnics after delivering a speech that energized Democrats on Thursday (July 28).

In the biggest speech of her more than 25-year-old career in the public eye, Clinton accepted the Democratic presidential nomination for the Nov. 8 election with a promise to make the United States a country that worked for everyone.

“The world is watching what we do. Yes, America’s destiny is ours to choose. So let’s be stronger together,” Clinton said to cheers.

The speech was Clinton’s turn in the spotlight after three days of electrifying appearances by President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and first lady Michelle Obama, and Clinton acknowledged that some people still do not know her well.

Clinton was joined on stage by her running mate Tim Kaine, her husband, former president Bill Clinton, their daughter Chelsea, son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky and Kaine’s wife Ann Holton.
