Homa Bay CEC nominee Dony Opar shot dead in Kendu Bay town

Homa Bay County Executive Committee member nominee in charge of Roads and infrastructure Philemon Dony Opar is dead.

Opar was shot dead by unknown assailants at his petrol station within Kendu Bay town in Rachuonyo North Sub County on Friday night.

According to the Chief of Karabondi location Isaac Opar, unknown gunmen stormed the petrol station and went straight to the point where Opar was, shot him twice at close range killing him instantly before speeding off.

The 10pm incident happened when the deceased was in the process of collecting the daily collection from his petrol station near a hotel in Kendu Bay town.

While confirming the incident, Homa Bay County police commander Esther Seroney said that investigations into the incident are underway.

Meanwhile, the county Government of Homa Bay has condemned the murder of the county leader.

In his condolence message to the family and relatives, Homa Bay Deputy governor Hamilton Orata and county secretary Isaiah Ogwe said that Opar’s death is a big blow to the county government.

Opar had been approved by the assembly and was just awaiting to take oath of office.

The leaders further urged the police to expedite their investigations and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.
