Homa Bay County Assembly closed for two weeks after MCA tests positive for COVID-19

Homa Bay County Assembly has been closed for two weeks after one of the members tested positive for coronavirus.

According to a report from the county health department, the MCA was tested in Kisumu.

He is currently in one of the COVID-19 isolation centers within Kisumu county.

Following the positive case, the assembly leadership decided to stop all operations to prevent spread of the virus within the assembly precinct.

Assembly majority leader John Kiasa confirmed that the assembly has been closed for two weeks.

MCAs and all the assembly staff will be required to undergo mandatory testing to establish their COVID-19 status.

Kiasa said the assembly has liaised with the department of health to ensure all the MCAs and staff are tested before they resume normal operations.

The county health surveillance officers have already taken samples from family members of the MCA who tested positive for COVID-19.
