Homa Bay County Assembly wants 5 governor’s staff members fired over misappropriation of Ksh.11.7M

Homa Bay County Assembly has now recommended the immediate sacking of five county officers attached to the office of the governor over alleged misappropriation of Ksh.11.7 million.

The officers under the spotlight are Eliud Otieno (county Chief of Staff), David Ajumba (the governor’s Personal Assistant), John Apollo (Chief of Protocol), Ruth Nyangori (Economic Advisor) as well as Maurice Juma Aluoch (Director of Communication).

The officers, according to a report tabled before the House by Ruma Kaksingri MCA Ellyphalet Osuri, allegedly misused the funds set aside to be used during the recently held Devolution Conference in Kirinyaga.

Mr. Osuri said the officers violated the Public Finance Management Act, hence are unfit to hold public office.

The House now wants the appointment of the five embattled officers immediately revoked, further that they be investigated for embezzlement.

The Speaker of the assembly is now expected to write to the governor to dismiss the officers and forward a copy of the letter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) as well as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for further action.
