Homa Bay: Fisherman, 45, arrested for allegedly defiling 16-year-old girl repeatedly

A 45-year-old fisherman was on Saturday arrested for allegedly defiling a Form Two student at Gingo Beach, Homa Bay County.

John Ouma alias Salim was arrested by officers from Gingo Police Station while trying to escape after reportedly committing the offence on Friday night.

Mr. Ouma, who is fisherman at Kabwao beach, is said to have lured the 16-year-old girl to the neighboring Gingo beach where he repeatedly defiled her.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Area Assistant County Commissioner Abdimalik Abdullahi said the suspect tried to escape after being caught red-handed but was later arrested.

According to Mr. Abdullahi, the suspect was nabbed by police officers who rescued him from an angry mob baying for his blood.

He added that the officers took the minor to Suba South sub-county hospital for medical examination before she was allowed to go home.

The suspect is currently being detained at Gingo Police Station awaiting to arraignment.
