A 21-year-old man was arrested after a Form One girl was found locked up in his house at Rachuonyo, Homa Bay County.

Victor Andrew Ongo’do is accused of hiding the 16-year-old at Omindi village, Kodero sub location at Kanyipir.

Regina Onyony, the Kodero Sub Location Assistant chief, said they stumbled on the girl during an impromptu raid.

They had reportedly been tipped off that the man had stolen chairs from a funeral a week ago.

They were however shocked to find the girl locked up inside the house.

It is alleged that the suspect lured the minor from her home in Omboga, Kanyaluo Location a week ago and has been defiling her.

She had been living with her grandfather who told the chief that they had reported her missing and tried finding her to no avail.

The suspect was taken to Kendu Bay Police Station.

He is expected to be arraigned in court this week.
