Homabay Goes To The Polls

Voting is ongoing in various polling stations in the mini-poll that has attracted 8 candidates.

The candidates are Medo Misama (Independent), Philip Okundi (Maendeleo Democratic Party), Moses Kajwang’ (ODM), Benard Otieno (National Vision Party), Fred Rabongo (Natonal Agenda Party) as well as three running on independent tickets: Hillary Alila, Innocent Masara and Edwin Matete.

On Wednesday, the candidates appealed to the public to vote peacefully.

Acting Inspector General of Police Samuel Arachi had earlier on assured of adequate security.

“To ensure that the exercise is undertaken smoothly, all the relevant agencies have put in place and sufficient measures have been taken on the ground,” Arachi said.

Over 2,000 police officers have also been deployed to Homabay to watch over the by-election.

Homabay senatorial seat fell vacant after the death of Otieno Kajwang last year.
