Househelp Charged With Murder Of Employer

The prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt that it is the accused that killed her employer Mradulaben Kirankumar Shah.

Emily has been charged with the murder of her employer that took place on September 25, 2009.

She stabbed her employer to death five years ago at Jalaram apartments in Parklands, Nairobi.

She has been found guilty of man slaughter by the high court before Justice Nicholas Ombija.

Exhibits produced in court by the prosecution included a blood-stained kitchen knife, a broken stool and a bed sheet.

Ten witnesses from the expansive apartment building and the deceased's daughter testified in the case.

Analyzing the evidence, the judge said it was clear the two women disagreed over chores.

The court heard that Shah was usually very tough on her house helps.

The judge said the prosecution evidence showed there were disagreements between the accused and the deceased just before the incident.

Justice Ombija therefore reduced the charge from murder to manslaughter.
