How wife of Likoni man tried to stop him from leaving the house

It has now emerged that John Mutinda, the driver of the ill fated Likoni car, may have intentionally driven to his death.

Sources revealed that Mutinda left home at 4am Saturday claiming to have an urgent appointment.

His wife, Ruth Mueni, tried to get more information about the said meeting to no avail.

She is further reported to have even tried to hide the car keys in a bid to stop him from leaving but was unsuccessful.

He left the house and got into the car while still in his pajamas.

When he arrived at the Likoni channel, he did not buy a ticket but sped off the ramp at high speed, apparently almost knocking down an official from the Kenya Ferry Service (KFS).

The vehicle plunged into the ocean.

Divers were immediately called to the scene and 8 hours later, retrieved the car.

The Toyota Allion car with registration number KBX 475B was pulled out in a multi-agency operation involving divers from the Kenya Navy.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the mortuary at the Coast General Hospital.
