Hudson Andambi appointed Kenya Pipeline acting MD

The Ministry of Petroleum and Mining has appointed Hudson Andambi as the interim Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) to replace Joe Sang.

In a statement to newsrooms, mining PS Andrew Kamau cited recent arrests of the company’s top management as reason for the appointment.

“This Ministry in consultation with the chairperson of the KPC board has appointed Hudson andambi from this Ministry as the interim managing director of KPC until the board meets to deliberate on the way forward,” read the statement signed by Mr. Kamau.

“This ensures that operations continue without interference for purposes of ensuring security of supply of petroleum products.”

The announcement comes just hours after Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested Kenya Pipeline Managing Director Joe Sang.

On Tuesday, Sang announced he would be leaving the company, with the KPC board calling for an urgent internal audit in the procurement process.

Sang is currently embroiled in allegations of fraudulent tendering and questionable payments totaling to over Ksh.2 billion.

The Kenya Pipeline Company has been under investigation over allegations of massive corruption at the State corporation.

Sang has been the KPC boss since April 2016 after holding the fort in acting capacity for four months following the quiet exit of his predecessor Flora Akoth.
