Hundreds storm Kisumu airport as Raila departs

Hundreds of local residents on Monday afternoon stormed the Kisumu International Airport as National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga boarded a flight to Nairobi.

Normal operations at the airport came to a standstill as the opposition leader’s supporters breached security at the facility to access the terminal. Odinga’s flight was scheduled to depart at 5pm.

After it occurred to them that Odinga would not address them, the anxious supporters then ran to the airport’s pavilion to see him off as he headed to Nairobi.

Earlier on Mr. Odinga had accused the Jubilee administration over the arrest of NASA strategist David Ndii, insisting it was a ploy by the government to intimidate and blackmail the people of Kenya.

Odinga went to Kisumu on Saturday and met with Governor Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o and MCAs at the Kisumu County Assembly, to probably discuss the push for People’s Assembly agenda.
