Huruma Ward MCA Peter Owera in court over murder charges

Huruma ward MCA, Peter Owera Oluoch, was on Tuesday morning arraigned in court over the killing of a bodyguard attached to one of the aspirants in his ward.

Owera appeared before Senior Principle Magistrate in court alongside five other people – with all six did not plead to any criminal charges.

This is after the defense asked the court for more time to reply to a miscellaneous application filed by the prosecution.

The prosecution wants the accused remanded for a period of 14 days as police officers conclude investigations into the killing.

According to an officer attached to DCIO Starehe, Linus Owango, the deceased Dan Omollo was brutally murdered on 26th of March 2017 in Huruma, Starehe Division within Nairobi County.

“Due to the complicated nature of this murder incident, we were unable to produce the suspects in court within 24 hours as required,” argued Owango

The police further stated that they are still collecting evidence such as communication data, age assessment, and mental status among others.

Other accused persons linked to the murder of the said bodyguard are Gabriel Ochieng Odor, Elly Owor Onura, Dennis Otiemno Omollo, Raphael Willy Obunga, Peter Mwangi Kariuki and Daniel Okumu Ongongo.

The application will be argued tomorrow, Wednesday 29th March 2017.
