I did not endorse President Kenyatta, Musila says

Kitui Senator David Musila has denied allegations of endorsing the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta, clarifying that he is strongly behind the opposition’s National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Senator Musila, who is gunning for the Kitui governor’s seat as an independent candidate after being trounced by incumbent Julius Malombe in Wiper Party nominations, and Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze created public uncertainty on Sunday, May 12 after praising the Jubilee administration for implementing numerous projects, calling those faulting the government liars.

Speaking to Citizen TV on the phone, the senator said that he went to the National Youth Service (NYS) function at Kauwi Primary School because youth empowerment is one of his manifesto’s pillars and not because he supports Jubilee.

“I did not endorse the president; I said leaders should be chosen based on merits. I am fully supporting NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga,” said Senator Musila.

The senator, however, faulted the way opposition coalition has treated independent candidates with disdain and urging their supporters not to vote for them.

“NASA has failed by treating independent candidates like their enemies. I have even told them this because during a recent rally in Ukambani only leaders from NASA affiliate parties were allowed to talk,” added the senator.

Musila also hinted that things are not in order in Wiper party, solely attributing that to the manner in which the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party handled its nomination exercise.
