I was forced to feed five snakes, claims Eldoret girl

Business was interrupted at Turkadero bus station in Eldoret Town on Monday afternoon after a girl, 20, grabbed the attention of matatu operators by claiming that her employer had forced her to rear five huge snakes.

The girl, who is identified only as Jane, told matatu operators that she had escaped from her employer’s house because she was not comfortable tending to the snakes.

Jane claimed that she had been promised Sh8000 per month to take care of children, only for her to discover that the children were actually snakes.

“I decided I cannot tend to the snakes,” said a shaken Jane.

“I was required to feed the five snakes porridge and cooked bananas,” she added.

The matatu operators interrupted their work to conduct a fund raising for the girl’s transport back home to Kibomet area in Tranzoia County.

The irate matatu operators then threatened to match to the woman’s house in the up market Elgon View Estate but instead took her to the police station.
