I will not allow events like Project X to happen- Kidero

Nairobi County Governor Evans Kidero has condemned individuals who encourage underage drinking, adding that he would not condone such vices within his jurisdiction.

Speaking at the Starehe SDA Church where he joined worshippers for the Sabbath service, the governor vowed to take action against the organisers of the infamous ‘Project X’ party.

“As a father and a leader I will not allow events like Project X to happen under watch. The organisers of the underage party that took place in Langata will be arrested and prosecuted. We need to instill discipline in our youth. Due process will be followed to ensure the organiser is prosecuted,” said Dr. Kidero.

Speaking at the Starehe SDA Church where he joined worshippers for the Sabbath service, the governor noted that underage drinking is a serious problem in the country.

For the last week, social media platforms have been abuzz with posters of a planned raunchy party code-named “Project X” scheduled for today, Saturday March 12^th.

Posters doing rounds online advertised drug fuelled orgies, with one even stating that nobody will go back home a virgin.

Parents, leaders and members of the public expressed concern about the party with many calling on security forces to ban the function.

Observers pointed out that even though they have not been as publicized as Project X, such orgies are common in some of the country’s urban centres.

Senior police officers said they had deployed undercover detectives to catch the organizers.

No arrests have been made so far.
