IEBC boss to stay longer in office

The outgoing Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson, Ahmed Issack Hassan, will stay longer in office after the select committee announced the re-advertisement of the post.

The IEBC Selection Panel said the information received from the Etjhics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was not satisfactory to proceed with the interviews.

The Selection Panel chairperson, Bernadette Musundi, said that the positions will be re-advertised on Saturday, November 26, 2016 asking those who had applied initially not to do so again.

She, however, said that the interviews for the commissioners will proceed as scheduled.

The five shortlisted candidates were:  David Mukii Mureka, Roseline Odhiambo-Odede, John Kangu Mutakha, Margaret Wambui Ngugi Shava and Kiprop David Malakwen.

In a notice published in newspapers, the Selection Panel said the five candidates would be interviewed on November 28 and 29 with each candidate allocated two hours.
