IEBC calls on parties to mobilise supporters to register as voters

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has appealed to various stakeholders to sensitize and rally Kenyans to turn out and register as voters in the second and final Mass Voter Registration from Monday, January 16 ahead of the August election.

The electoral body led by its CEO, Ezra Chiloba, was meeting more than 100 members of the Political Parties Liaison Committee on Tuesday to discuss strategies for the exercise running until February 15.

During the meeting, IEBC informed the leaders the decision to move those wishing to transfer their voting centers from ward to their constituency offices due to experience from first phase of Mass Voter Registration where 700,000 of the 1.4 million applicants requested for transfers.

Distribution of Biometric Voter Registration kits, voter education and election timelines were also tackled, with IEBC set to meet state agencies, NGOs and youth next after meeting media editors on Monday.
