IEBC Chair Calls For Probe Over Graft Claims

Hassan wants the probe done based on prosecution opening statement in a criminal case before a court in the United Kingdom against Smith and Ouzman printing firm that was contracted by IEBC and its predecessor IIEC to print ballot papers.

In a statement posted on the official IEBC facebook page, the electoral body boss argues that no IEBC official has been served with any court summons relating to graft.

Hassan now says anyone found culpable be made accountable for their actions in accordance to the law.

This remarks come amid renewed pressure by the opposition for arrest and resignation of all those mentioned in the ongoing London case and disbandment of the electoral body.

Prosecution in the UK case claims that up to 50 million shillings was dished out to top electoral officers as bribes dubbed 'chicken', for award of a ballot printing tender to the British firm about four years ago.
