IEBC formally gazettes Uhuru’s victory
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has formally gazetted Uhuru Kenyatta as the President-elect following his victory in the Tuesday polls.
IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati, gazetted Uhuru’s re-election after he was on Friday, August 11 declared as the winner of the hotly contested election.
This now paves way for President Uhuru’s swearing in for a second term on August 28 if his election is not challenged in court.
However, if his poll victory is challenged at the Supreme Court, Uhuru will have to wait for 14 days for his fate to be decided by the highest court in the country.
