IEBC grants access to results transmission server
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says it has provided access to its results transmission server.
Through its official Twitter handle, the electoral agency revealed that it has granted access rights to presidential candidates and party agents to verify the results transmission system, in a bid to clear any doubts about the transparency and credibility of the October 26 repeat presidential election.
“The commission has provided access rights to Presidential Candidates, Agents and Observers who made requests; to the results transmission server from day of Elections 26/10/17 till results were declared,” read the tweet.

The commission further says that it is ready to “avail the logs to others upon request.”
IEBC commissioners found themselves in a twist when trying to explain the correct voter turn-out in the repeat poll. Chairperson Wafula Chebukati had earlier on anticipated a 48% voter turn-out, only to clarify later in a tweet that slightly above 6.5 million Kenyans had cast their vote on Thursday, October 26.
The opposition National Super Alliance then alleged that KIEMS kits show that only 3.5 million turned-out to vote, something that prompted IEBC Commissioner Abdi Guliye to come out strongly and put things into perspective.
“In essence, transmission by the KIEMS kits will not be accurate in terms of absolute numbers. We are not going to rely on transmission from the kits but instead we will be using the transmissions via Forms 34B,” explained Guliye.
Eventually, IEBC said that the total votes cast in the fresh poll were 7,616,217.
