IEBC not ready for August 8 election Governor Yattani

Marsabit Governor, Ukur Yattani, says the Independent Electoral and boundaries Commission (IEBC) is not ready for the August 8 polls.

Mr Yattani says that the IEBC is not well prepared to conduct the August General Election arguing that the electoral body has no proper framework for carrying out the exercise.

Addressing residents of Merille and Laisamis in Marsabit County, the county boss called upon the IEBC to come up with a framework to ensure that the August polls will be transparent, free and fair.

He said that several electoral body officials have already taken sides and are in support of some individual candidates and want them removed from office.

The Governor urged the residents to maintain peace and order in the forthcoming elections as there are some politicians from other counties who want to interfere with the peace in the county.

He said that politicians from the neighboring Ethiopia, Tana River and Isiolo counties are out to interfere with the peace and calmness of the county.
