IEBC receiving Form 34As from polling stations

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) now says that it has received a total of 29,000 Form 34As out of the 40,883 from all over the country.

Speaking at the Bomas of Kenya during a press briefing on Wednesday, August 9, the commission CEO, Ezra Chiloba, revealed that all agents representing presidential candidates have been given access to the back-end of the streaming results, to verify various polling centers with their respective form 34As.

According to Mr. Chiloba, the electoral agency has also allowed access to the forms such that all political parties are able to scrutinize them, in a bid to further ensure the transparency and credibility of election results.

“Presidential election from all polling stations has come to an end. We are now waiting for Form 34Bs from the constituencies. Regarding the slight delay you have to acknowledge that we’re processing 6 elections and therefore 600 ballot boxes per constituency,” said Mr. Chiloba.

On Tuesday, August 8, the National Super Alliance (NASA) had faulted IEBC for streaming results they termed as ‘fraud’ as they were not verified against the verification form that usually presents results signed by all party agents at constituency level.

However, the Wafula Chebukati-led commission argued that it had consulted all the stakeholders on relaying of text results from constituencies and by so doing, it will have done well to enhance transparency and accountability in the electoral process consistent with the commitment that it has made to the Kenyan people.
