IEBC recruiting over 350,000 officers to oversee August polls

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has advertised for 359,958 posts for temporary staff to assist in conducting the August 8 General Election.

The posts, include 91,032 for Presiding and deputy Presiding Officers who will serve for 13 days, 262,665 Polling and Counting Clerks who will serve for nine days and 337 Logistics Officers to serve for 30 days.

The electoral body will also be recruiting 290 Deputy Returning Officers to serve for 60 days, 5,054 Support Electoral Trainers to serve for 15 days and 580 Constituency ICT Clerks to serve for a period of 30 days.

Applicants seeking to fill the positions have until Thursday next week to submit their applications online.

Meanwhile, IEBC commissioner, Roselyn Akombe, has expressed concern over the few number of people who have participated in the verification exercise, ahead of today’s (Friday, June 9) deadline.

Details to be confirmed include the correct spelling of personal details, the polling station and biometrics that will be used to identify voters.
