IEBC Takes Voter Education to Secondary Schools

According to the IEBC Bondo constituency elections coordinator, Ms Rose Obari, the voter education exercise, which kicks off Monday next week, has been initiated to foster the students’ understanding of the electoral processes and develop leaders of integrity from an early age.

She adds that the programme focuses more on the secondary school students because they are about to turn 18 years of age and will therefore be eligible to participate in elections.

Ms Obari said the project will begin on 18th and end on the 23rd of May and will be rolled out in at least two schools which have already been identified in each of the six electoral wards within the constituency.

PUBLIC WELCOME

The elections coordinator revealed that they will cover Joachim Owang’ secondary school in Mageta Island, Got Agulu, Got Matar and Majengo Mixed Secondary School, Uyawi Secondary School and Nyang’oma Technical School.

Others include Akoko, Got Abiero, Kapiyo, Bondo Township and Bar-chando Girls’ Secondary Schools.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi at her office in Bondo, Ms Obari, who disclosed that during the exercise they will also register voters, adding that members of the community have also been invited to attend the voter education trainings.
