IEBC talks underway in bid to end fresh poll impasse
The crucial meeting between poll body IEBC bosses and political party representatives to iron out differences over preparations for the repeat presidential vote has gotten underway at the Bomas of Kenya, Nairobi.
IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati, who is chairing the meeting, has expressed confidence that the commission will better handle the upcoming repeat presidential election and ensure its free, fair and credible.
Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju says president Uhuru Kenyatta’s party will during the meeting also table its demands to the commission in a bid to ensure fresh results are not challenged.
Opposition coalition, NASA, which was earlier non-committal on its attendance of the meeting, is represented by Siaya Senator James Orengo, with NASA set to push for realization of its 12 demands to the poll body.
IEBC and political parties are set to update the media on the progress after the closed door meeting.
