IG Boinnet names officers linked to murder of Willie Kimani, 2 others

Police Inspector General Joseph Boinnet has released the names of the three police officers currently being held in custody over the brutal murder of city lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Josephat Mwenda and driver Joseph Muiruri.

Senior Sergeant Fredrick Leliman, Corporal Stephen Chebulet and Constable Silvia Wanjiku are currently helping with probe into killing of the three men.

This comes a day after the IG intimated that preliminary investigations linked three police officers with the murders after the bodies were recovered from River Athi at Ol Donyo Sabuk.

On Saturday, Mwenda’s family members identified his body at City Mortuary after it was retrieved from the river on Friday evening.

A team led by government chief pathologist Johansen Oduor is slated to conduct post mortem examinations on the three bodies.

Speaking to members of the press on Saturday, he said the bodies will first be taken for x-ray examinations to ascertain if the deceased had any internal injuries or foreign bodies. Thereafter his team will proceed with the regular post-mortem examinations.
