IGAD Holds First Water Dialogue Forum

The forum was themed ‘Water for Regional Cooperation’ and it was meant to discuss the strategies on how the eight member states can enhance resilience to drought and climate vulnerability areas in the regions.

The event was hosted by the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Water and Natural Resources Prof. Judy Wakhungu.

The cabinet secretary said that her ministry is ready to tackle the problem of water shortage in the country.

According to Prof. Judy Wakhungu, Kenya is set to invest in water as a resource and share with the other 7 members countries in order to promote development and unity among the IGAD members states.

Water resources governance is a key issue to Africa because of the fierce competition for the commodity which sometimes triggers conflicts among the sharing countries.
