Refund our money, Igembe residents tell courts

Residents from Igembe region are urging the Judiciary to refund money they paid as bail after allegedly being victimised as legal offenders.
They claim that corrupt court officers have frustrated their efforts to get their money back which they paid during case proceedings.
Timothy Ndumba was released on a cash bail of Ksh. 200,000 in December last year said his money is still in the custody of the law courts.
“My children need to go to school but each time we inquire, they come up with excuses like there’s no money in the account or that the ones in charge are retired or on leave,” he lamented.
Another resident, Patrick Gituma, said the Judiciary is taking advantage of them as common mwananchi (citizen) and they need Chief Justice David Maraga to fight for them.
