Ignore Miguna statement on Ndii, Magaya: says Raila

National Super Alliance leader Raila Odinga has come out to defend NASA secretariat staff David Ndii and Norman Magaya from claims that they are working with the Jubilee government to rock the opposition boat from within.

In a statement to newsrooms, Mr. Odinga asked NASA supporters to ignore the allegations that were first initiated by Miguna Miguna, the self-declared general of the opposition’s outlawed National Resistance Movement (NRM).

“My attention has been drawn to reports in sections of the media attributed to Mr. Miguna Miguna claiming that Dr. David Ndii and Mr. Norman Magaya are working for Jubilee Party. The allegations against the two, if at all they were made, are very unfortunate and detrimental to the course we are pursuing,”said Odinga.

Odinga expressed confidence in Ndii, who is head of the NASA secretariat and Magaya, the NASA CEO, saying the two “have dedicated time and resources working for NASA’s course.”

“I urge all our supporters to ignore the sentiments and focus on the issues we have set out to address,” said Odinga.

In a scathing statement issued on Sunday from Canada, where he was deported two weeks ago, Miguna claimed that Odinga had discussed with him about Magaya’s alleged underhand dealings with Jubilee.

Norman Magaya is actively working for Jubilee. He took Ksh.30 million to withdraw the petition against Sonko in retaliation for his failed nomination to IELA. He had vowed to ‘revenge against Raila’ after that, Odinga himself told me about it,” alleged Miguna.

About Mr. Ndii, Miguna claimed: “Ndii opposed the swearing in [of Raila Odinga] and threatened to lead a walkout from NASA of Kalonzo et al. Ndii shouted at me and made the threats in person in my house. Now that their schemes have flopped, they have conspired to sabotage the NRMKe. We shall not permit it!”

Miguna sent out the statement after Ndii and Magaya allegedly held a conference call with the Kenyan Diaspora where he says the two”purported to speak on behalf of the NRM Kenya,” yet they did not contact him as the NRM “general”.

The Kenyan-Canadian lawyer further accused Magaya and Ndii of acting in a manner suggesting they were celebrating his woes.

“You both know my local and Canadian numbers including my WhatsApp number. In fact, neither of you have called or texted me to show solidarity since I was released and forcefully removed from Kenya. I’ve keenly watched videos and read media reports of the campaign for my release and I have noted, with interest, your singular silence about me,” said Miguna.

“Neither of you have mentioned my name during the numerous press conferences you have called and statements you have read. It’s as if you were celebrating about the flagrant abuse of my rights.”

Miguna was hounded out of Kenya on February 6, days after he commissioned the mock swearing in of Raila Odinga as the ‘People’s President’.
