Ikiara to replace embattled KEBS boss Charles Ongwae
- In a letter certified urgent and addressed to the Chairman of National Standards Council, Mugambi Imanyara, Dr. Ikiara assumes position with immediate effect for a period of three months.
- Prior to his appointment to KEBS, Dr. Ikiara was the Managing Director of the Kenya Investment Authority.
- He takes over from embattled former KEBS boss Charles Ongwae who was arrested and charged with attempted murder over the importation of sub-standard goods into the country.
Industrialization CS Adan Mohamed has named Dr. Moses Ikiara as the acting Managing Director of Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
In a letter certified urgent, Dr. Ikiara is to assume position with immediate effect for a period of three months.

Prior to Thursday’s appointment, Dr. Ikiara was the Kenya Investment Authority MD.
He is also a former lecturer at the Moi University School of Environment Studies.
Dr. Kiara takes over from embattled Charles Ongwae, who was arrested and charged with attempted murder over the importation of sub-standard goods into the country.
Ongwae, charged alongside other KEBS officials, was however freed on Ksh.5million bond with a surety of a similar amount.
He was also ordered to present a cash bail of Ksh.3 million over charges of importation of fake import standardization mark (ISM) stickers.
