I’ll give the phone to my dad for Valentine’s Day, Share App Ushinde winner says

Joram Mugatha, a first year university student from Nakuru, on Friday won a brand new Infinix Note 2 after emerging as the week’s top referrer in the ongoing Citizen Digital App Referral Campaign.

Mugatha, who is the second person to win a phone in the contest, got to first place after sharing the top news app with over 150 friends – with 59 successfully installing the application.

The ecstatic college students could hardly gather his thoughts after being awarded a grand prize live on national TV.

While many college students would show off the flashy phone to their schoolmates, the soft-spoken student said that he will give the phone to his father.

“I’m extremely thankful to the Citizen fraternity for giving me an Infinix phone; this will be a pre-Valentine’s Day gift to my beloved dad,” said Mugatha.

So how did he get involved in the competition?

“I watched the advertisement that was once aired on Citizen Television, then decided to get the app. Then I saw on social media that one could win by sharing the app with friends, so I updated to the latest version and later shared it with my friends on social media.”

Aside from the contest, what made him share the app with his friends?

“I decided to share the app with my friend’s because they have difficulties subscribing to and purchasing the satellite decoders. The app comes in handy as it’s an easier platform to watch and download news stories on. It only takes a few bundles,” he said.

Having used the app, what does he have to say about his experience?

“The app is easy to use and everyone can be conversant with it. I would like to urge people to download the app and share it with their friends on social media and they can be a winner like me.”

How to join the contest

To invite or refer their friends, a user will be required to login in the app for accurate determination of successful referrals. Once logged in, he/she can invite friends by clicking on ‘Share App’ from the drop-down menu at the top left corner of the screen as demonstrated below.

The referring users will be awarded points for each successful referral and enrolled to a weekly draw where the user with the most referrals for that week is rewarded with giveaways.

We will have a total of six winners every week: winner 1 will be awarded with a Smartphone + appearance on Citizen TV #Powerbreakfast show while the other 5 winners will be awarded mobile data of at least 3GB each or Airtime equivalent to Ksh 1000/=.
