Illicit brew nabbed in Muranga County

Police in Kandara, Murang’a County on Saturday morning nabbed 125 litres of illicit brew with an estimated street value of Ksh. 75,000 from a home owned by the unscrupulous traders.

Speaking to the press, Kandara OCPD Gregory Mutiso who led the sting operation said that police acted on a tip off from members of the public who spotted Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps and an alcohol meter in the area.

“On Friday night we were informed by Kandara residents that there were traders making illicit brew in their home. We camped at the home waiting to nab the trader who did not show up. In the morning we decided to break into the home where we recovered the brew, stamps and an alcohol meter,” said the OCPD.

The OCPD vowed to continue with the crackdown against the illicit brew and bring to book the traders involved.

Mutiso further appealed to residents to help police in the operation by reporting any suspicious activities in the area.
