Im not here to look for birth certificate jokes Obama

U.S. President Barack Obama made jokes about his birth certificate during a state dinner hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.

“I suspect that some of my critics back home are suggesting I’m back here to look for my birth certificate. That is not the case,” joked a jovial Obama.

Obama made his birth certificate public in 2011 after opponents questioned his birthplace and eligibility to be President, claiming he was not a U.S. citizen. The certificate lists Honolulu, Hawaii, as his place of birth.

His visit to Kenya marks the first time a sitting U.S. President has travelled to the East African nation.

“Here tonight, and across the United States – Kenyans and Americans are coming together. We are understanding each other better, we are finding new ways to partner and I believe that if we can build on what we accomplished on this visit, then we can achieve even more in the years to come, for our people, for our beautiful lands, for our freedom, for peace,” said Obama.

President Kenyatta praised Obama and hailed the trip as a success.

“It is my wish that today as we welcome the president of the United States, whose father one day left our shores and who today returns as president of the one of the greatest nations in this world, that we too, may learn that greatness is also amongst us if we could just come together, forget our narrow differences and look towards the future with hope and build on the potential, especially of our young people,” Kenyatta said.
