Former President Daniel Arap Moi had a political career spanning more than five decades starting in 1957 all the way to 2002.

He was plucked from his teaching career and thrust into politics to represent the Rift Valley region at the Legislative Council.

His long political stint was marked by memorable events: from meeting world leaders to interacting with regular citizens both at home and abroad.

The signature ‘rungu’ was always in hand as well as a fresh rose for his breast-pocket.
