Include all political parties in IEBC discussion President Uhuru, Raila told

All political parties should be included in the talks which seek to solve the issue of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ahead of the next year’s general elections slated for August, this is according to the new chairman of the Political Parties Liaison Committee (PPLC), Philip Obonyo.

Obonyo said there is no way only few political parties under both the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy {CORD} and Jubilee Coalition are the ones included in the crucial process seeking to disband IEBC.

Addressing the media in Kisumu Wednesday, Obonyo said there are 65 duly registered political parties in the country which should have a representative in that 14-member committee which has been constituted to help in resolving the IEBC impasse.

Obonyo urged both President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to consider including representatives of other political parties.

He said all political parties normally participate in the electoral process hence should have a say when the electoral body manning elections in the country has issues.

The PPLC Chairman said there is no big political party in the country hence CORD and Jubilee should not purport to be representing all the political parties during the talk about IEBC.

This comes at a time when the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) and the Jubilee alliance are trying to resolve the IEBC stalemate through a joint dialogue.
