NEMA shuts down tar processing plant in Gatuanyaga

The National Environmental management Authority (NEMA) has shut down a tar processing factory in Gatuanyaga over environmental degradation complaints.

According to the residents, more than 500 people had petitioned for the relocation of Pinnie Agency Ltd, which is based in a residential zone.

Despite the fact that the company holds a valid license to operate in the residential area, MP Alice Ng’ang’a assured residents that it would be relocated to a designated industrial area.

Elsewhere in Kikuyu constituency, Kiambu County Government asked MP Kimani Ichung’wa to withdraw licenses given to bar owners operating in a 300 meter radius from learning institutions.
