Industrial Court Orders End To Teachers’ Strike

Learning in public schools will resume on Monday after the industrial court directed the two teachers unions to call off the 10 day old teachers' strike. While agreeing to abide by the court directive the Kenya national union of teachers says it will have to hold a national advisory council meeting Friday to seek approval to formally call off the strike. The court decision followed closed door consultations between the teachers’ employer TSC, the teachers unions KNUT and KUPPET, the ministry of labour as well as the salaries and remuneration commission.
