Insurance agent charged with issuing fake certificates
One person has been charged in a Mombasa court for issuing fake insurance cover and five public service vehicles impounded following an operation that was conducted at Jomvu and Changamwe constituencies.
Zakayo Simiyu, an agent of Direct Line Insurance company, is accused of forging insurance and supplying the fake certificates to various PSV matatus in Mombasa.
He denied all the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000. The case is set to be mentioned next month.
According to the security apparatus, cartels in the insurance industry have been using the matatu sector and issuing fake insurance cover.
