Interpol helping probe graft at Mombasa Port

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) is currently working with some foreign nations and security agencies such as Interpol to investigate corruption allegation at the Port of Mombasa.
The commission confirmed that it has brought in its partners such as Britain to assist establish corruption syndicate involving foreign individuals ,Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) , Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Kenya Bureau of Standard (KEBS) officials involved in graft.
Speaking to journalists during the Kenya Port Authority leader’s integrity meeting organized by EACC in a Kilifi hotel, Chief Executive Officer, Halakhe Waqo, said that his commission is currently working with international security agencies to investigate cargo theft from country of origin.
This comes only a few months after several suspects were arrested in Mombasa County and charged in court following disappearance of over 100 cargo at the port .
While in Mombasa County recently, President Uhuru Kenyatta instructed the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinett, to form a special security team to deal with corruption at the Port of Mombasa by escorting all cargo from to various border points across the country.
