Invest In Quality Legal Education, AG To Universities

While opening Kenyatta University's multi-million School of Law Complex in Parklands, the AG noted that their is a ever expanding workload for legal practitioners because of the growing population.

Muigai said the country needs polished legal experts to address diverse needs of Kenyans. “I challenge you to make use of this magnificent facility to become quality lawyers,” Prof Muigai told Kenyatta law students.

On her part, Kenyatta University Vice Chancellor Prof. Olive Mugenda said the University will launch a Masters program in Law in September this year and hire more professors to match the global training standards.

IN-HOUSE EXPERTS

“The construction of this complex was necessitated by the rising demand for quality legal education in the country. We have plans to expand our law school,” said Prof. Mugenda.

According to Prof. Mugenda, who has spearheaded infrastructural development at Kenyatta University since her appointment as the VC, the School of Law at Parklands is one of its youngest schools.

“We used in-house experts, including engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and project managers during this project to save government funds.”

The new complex which cost an estimated Ksh 250 million and completed in 36 months, will host lecture theatres, library, computer lab, moot court and boardroom among others facilities.

Kenyatta University launched it's School of Law in 2009 and is among the seven accredited institutions of higher learning offering legal education in the country.
